Management sucks![]() Submitted by 2_b_or_not on Tue, 07/09/2010 - 03:43.
I'm starting to lose my patience. Is it that difficult for those who are supposed to lead the way to take a right decision for a change? Why is it that, in many cases, former controllers are completely incompetent when they turn into managers, so much so that controllers eventually hate them? I can expect ignorance and stupidity from people who don't know what it means to be a controller, but it's difficult to accept that one of our own acts in the same way. Why? I have seen managers completely inadequate, with zero emotional intelligence, hating and hated, dooming their organisation to failure by making all the wrong decisions. Hell, I could do much better. I would consult my staff, I would listen to their worries, I would ask for their opinion, I would have common sense. Controllers must prove themselves every single day at work. They must be alert and competent. They must go back to training if they make repeated mistakes and they go home if they don't get better.

To err is Human. Unfortunately, to err repeatedly is also human. It’s one of our deadliest weaknesses as humans, with matching consequences in some cases. Of course in aviation, we can’t just sit around and wait for the next human to screw up. Let’s therefore see what happens and how to manage human error.. Read More
